The cave<\/div>\n<h2>Twelve years on carob and water<\/h2>\n<p>Hiding from Rome, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai and his son Rabbi Elazar went into a cave.<\/p>\n<span class=\"src\"><span class=\"he\">\u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea\u05b0\u05e8\u05b0\u05d7\u05b4\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1 \u05e0\u05b4\u05d9\u05e1\u05b8\u05bc\u05d0, \u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9 \u05dc\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc \u05d7\u05b8\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05d1\u05b8\u05d0 \u05d5\u05b0\u05e2\u05b5\u05d9\u05e0\u05b8\u05d0 \u05d3\u05b0\u05de\u05b7\u05d9\u05b8\u05bc\u05d0<\/span><span class=\"tr\">A miracle happened for them: a carob tree and a spring of water were created.<\/span><span class=\"ref\">Shabbat 33b<\/span><\/span>\n<p>They learned Torah there for twelve years. When they came out, every place they set their eyes on burst into flame. Return to your cave!<\/span><span class=\"ref\">Shabbat 33b<\/span><\/span>\n<p>The word for destroy, \u05dc\u05b0\u05d4\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05d1, is the carob&#8217;s root once more.
