Bereishit 41:42<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A signet is a mouth that speaks in the king&#8217;s name while the king is somewhere else. Four generations later the house that issued that ring goes into the sea, and the Torah describes it with the same root.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" dir=\"rtl\" lang=\"he\">\u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b4\u05d1\u05b0\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 \u05e9\u05b8\u05c1\u05dc\u05b4\u05e9\u05b8\u05c1\u05d9\u05d5 \u05d8\u05bb\u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05e2\u05d5\u05bc \u05d1\u05b0\u05d9\u05b7\u05dd \u05e1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e3<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>His choicest officers were sunk in the Sea of Reeds. Shemot 15:4<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zt-hiddush wp-block-paragraph\">\u05d8\u05d1\u05e2. The ring and the drowning share three letters. The King of the kings of kings, the Holy One, stamped every person with the seal of the first man, and not one of them is like his fellow. Therefore each and every one is obligated to say: the world was created for my sake. Mishnah Sanhedrin 4:5<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mint that turns out identical coins is working at the limit of its skill. The stamp that never repeats is the one the Mishnah calls royal. Every person is pressed from one seal and comes out infinitely unique, and the Mishnah turns that into an obligation: say it, the world was made for me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the whole teaching of this site in one mishnah. Your light has never burned before and will never burn again. Shining it is your share in the reason the world exists.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The rings that never come out<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" dir=\"rtl\" lang=\"he\">\u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05d8\u05b7\u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05e2\u05b9\u05ea \u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b8\u05e8\u05b9\u05df \u05d9\u05b4\u05d4\u05b0\u05d9\u05d5\u05bc \u05d4\u05b7\u05d1\u05b7\u05bc\u05d3\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9\u05dd \u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d9\u05b8\u05e1\u05bb\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc \u05de\u05b4\u05de\u05b6\u05bc\u05e0\u05bc\u05d5\u05bc<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The poles shall stay in the rings of the Ark; they shall not be removed from it. Shemot 25:15<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pharaoh&#8217;s ring authorised a man to speak for a king. The rings of the Ark authorise nothing. They keep the Ark ready to be carried at every hour, including the hours nobody is carrying it.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sinking, in the first person<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the sea, the Gemara says, the tribes stood at the edge and each refused to go down first, until Nachshon ben Aminadav jumped in. Chazal read his words in a psalm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" dir=\"rtl\" lang=\"he\">\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05e9\u05b4\u05c1\u05d9\u05e2\u05b5\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05db\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9 \u05d1\u05b8\u05d0\u05d5\u05bc \u05de\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd \u05e2\u05b7\u05d3 \u05e0\u05b8\u05e4\u05b6\u05e9\u05c1. \u05d8\u05b8\u05d1\u05b7\u05e2\u05b0\u05ea\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9 \u05d1\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9\u05d5\u05b5\u05df \u05de\u05b0\u05e6\u05d5\u05bc\u05dc\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d0\u05b5\u05d9\u05df \u05de\u05b8\u05e2\u05b3\u05de\u05b8\u05d3<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Save me, God, for the waters have come up to the soul. I have sunk in the mire of the deep, and there is no standing. Tehillim 69:2\u20133, read on Nachshon in Sotah 37a<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same root is said over Pharaoh&#8217;s officers in the past tense, and said by Nachshon in the present, as a report of where he is standing. One man going down to his neck, facing forward, with a nation walking in behind him.
