David captured the stronghold of Zion, that is the City of David.

Shlomo gathered the elders of Israel to Jerusalem to bring up the Ark of Hashem's covenant from the City of David, that is Zion.

This is the word Hashem spoke against him: the virgin daughter of Zion despises you and mocks you; daughter Jerusalem shakes her head behind you.
From Jerusalem a remnant will go out, and survivors from Mount Zion; the zeal of Hashem will do this.
Daughter Zion is left like a booth in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a city under siege.
Zion will be redeemed through justice, and those who return to her through righteousness.
Many peoples will say: come, let us go up to the mountain of Hashem, and He will teach us His ways. For from Zion goes out Torah, and the word of Hashem from Jerusalem.
Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, walking with outstretched necks and wandering eyes, mincing as they go.
Hashem will strike the crowns of the daughters of Zion with scabs, and lay them bare.
Whoever is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy: everyone written down for life in Jerusalem.
When Hashem washes away the filth of the daughters of Zion and rinses the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of burning.
Over all of Mount Zion Hashem will create a cloud by day and smoke, and the glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory, a canopy.
Here am I and the children Hashem gave me, as signs and wonders in Israel from Hashem of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.
When Hashem has finished all His work on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, I will punish the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria.
So says Hashem of hosts: My people who dwell in Zion, do not fear Assyria, who strikes you with a rod as Egypt did.
This very day he stands at Nov and shakes his fist at the mount of daughter Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
Shout and sing for joy, you who dwell in Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.
What will one answer the messengers of the nations? That Hashem has founded Zion, and in her the poor of His people take shelter.
Send the ruler of the land a lamb, from Sela in the desert to the mount of daughter Zion.
At that time a gift will be brought to Hashem of hosts, from a tall and smooth people, to the place of the name of Hashem of hosts, Mount Zion.
The moon will be ashamed and the sun abashed, for Hashem of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before His elders, glory.
So says Hashem: I lay in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who trusts will not hurry.
Like a hungry man who dreams he eats and wakes up empty, like a thirsty man who dreams he drinks and wakes up faint, so will be all the nations that war against Mount Zion.
O people in Zion who dwell in Jerusalem, you will weep no more; He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears, He will answer you.
As a lion growls over its prey and is not shaken by the shepherds' shouting, so Hashem of hosts will come down to fight upon Mount Zion and its hill.
His rock will pass away in terror, and his officers will flee the banner, says Hashem, whose fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.
Hashem is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling seizes the hypocrites: who of us can dwell with the consuming fire?
Behold Zion, city of our appointed times; your eyes will see Jerusalem a quiet home, a tent that will not be moved, its pegs never pulled up.
For it is Hashem's day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
The redeemed of Hashem will return and come to Zion with song, everlasting joy upon their heads; sorrow and sighing will flee.
This is the word Hashem spoke against him: the virgin daughter of Zion despises you and mocks you; daughter Jerusalem shakes her head behind you.
From Jerusalem a remnant will go out, and survivors from Mount Zion; the zeal of Hashem of hosts will do this.
Go up on a high mountain, herald to Zion; lift your voice with strength, herald to Jerusalem; say to the cities of Judah: here is your God.
First to Zion: behold, here they are; and to Jerusalem I give a herald of good news.
I have brought My righteousness near, it is not far; My salvation will not delay. I will give salvation in Zion, My glory to Israel.
Zion said: Hashem has abandoned me, my Lord has forgotten me.
Hashem has comforted Zion, comforted all her ruins; He has made her desert like Eden and her wasteland like the garden of Hashem; joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of song.
The redeemed of Hashem will return and come to Zion with song, everlasting joy upon their heads; sorrow and sighing will flee.
I have put My words in your mouth and covered you in the shadow of My hand, to plant the heavens and to found the earth, and to say to Zion: you are My people.
Awake, awake, put on your strength, Zion; put on your garments of glory, Jerusalem, holy city.
Shake off the dust, rise, sit up, Jerusalem; loose the bonds from your neck, captive daughter of Zion.
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the herald who announces peace, brings good news, announces salvation, saying to Zion: your God reigns.
Your watchmen lift their voices, together they sing, for eye to eye they will see Hashem returning to Zion.
A redeemer will come to Zion, and to those in Jacob who turn back from sin, says Hashem.
The sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you; they will call you City of Hashem, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
To give the mourners of Zion a crown in place of ashes, the oil of joy in place of mourning, a mantle of praise in place of a faint spirit; they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of Hashem.
For Zion's sake I will not be silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes out like brightness and her salvation burns like a torch.
Hashem has proclaimed to the end of the earth: say to daughter Zion, here your salvation comes.
Your holy cities have become a desert; Zion has become a desert, Jerusalem a desolation.
Who has heard such a thing? Can a land be born in one day, a nation brought forth at once? Yet Zion labored and gave birth to her children.
Return, wayward children, says Hashem; I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and bring you to Zion.
Raise a banner toward Zion; flee, do not stand still, for I bring evil from the north and a great breaking.
I hear a voice like a woman in labor, anguish as of one bearing her first child: the voice of daughter Zion gasping, spreading her hands.
The lovely and delicate one, daughter Zion, I will cut off.
They grasp bow and spear, cruel and merciless; their voice roars like the sea; they ride horses, arrayed for war against you, daughter Zion.
Hear the cry of my people from a distant land: is Hashem not in Zion, is her King not in her?
A sound of wailing is heard from Zion: how we are ruined, how deeply ashamed, for we have left the land.
Have You utterly rejected Judah? Does Your soul loathe Zion? Why have You struck us with no healing?
Michah the Morashtite prophesied in Chizkiyahu's days: Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become heaps, and the Temple mount a wooded height.
I will bring you healing and cure your wounds, says Hashem, because they called you outcast: that is Zion, no one seeks her.
There will be a day when watchmen call on Mount Ephraim: arise, let us go up to Zion, to Hashem our God.
They will come and sing on the heights of Zion, streaming to the goodness of Hashem, to grain, wine and oil; their soul will be like a watered garden.
They will ask the way to Zion, their faces turned toward it: come, let us join ourselves to Hashem in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.
The voice of those fleeing and escaping from Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of Hashem our God, vengeance for His Temple.
Hashem has brought our vindication to light; come, let us recount in Zion the work of Hashem our God.
I will repay Babylon and all who live in Chaldea for all the evil they did in Zion before your eyes, says Hashem.
Let the violence done to me and my flesh be on Babylon, says the inhabitant of Zion; my blood on the dwellers of Chaldea, says Jerusalem.
